Reflection on the 2025 RCS Reunion

The 2025 RCS Reunion was more than just a gathering—it was a poignant reminder of a legacy that spanned generations. As I sat in the restaurant, it quickly dawned on me that we had among us an alumnus from the very first graduating class and another from the very last. Chris Chavez, one of the eleven graduates from the Class of 1960, and Chris Mead, one of the three RCS graduates from the Class of 1975, stood as living bookends to the history of Regina Cleri Seminary. My heart was gripped with emotion as I realized I was witnessing the tangible beginning and the inevitable end of a cherished tradition.

Both of these men bear the name "Christopher," meaning "bearer of Christ" or "follower of Christ." Perhaps it was just coincidence, but in God's world, there is no such thing as coincidences. Their presence symbolized something far greater—the journey of faith, dedication, and brotherhood that defined RCS.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to all those who made this reunion possible—the planners, the setup crew, the cooks, the musicians, and most importantly, the alumni and special guests who took the time to be present. This event was for you, and without you, it would have had no meaning.

We are the last of a special group, a brotherhood forged in faith and service. Soon, the story of Regina Cleri Seminary will be but a footnote in the history of the Diocese of Tucson, a trivia question, or an anecdote in someone’s family history. The reality is clear—many of our brothers have already passed, and those of us who remain must make every effort to gather while we still can.

As we look to the future, let us hold fast to the memories, the friendships, and the faith that bound us together in our formative years. Let us celebrate what we had and cherish what we still have.

God bless us all.

A reminder of a brotherhood that we all took part of so many years ago, more than just memory lane. Great to see you all. Terry Kattau

My apologies, for some reason I was under the impression that Chris Mead's name was Mike...don't know why. But Victor bringing up the God-Incident that we were both named Christopher (Christ Bearer) is right on. God is amazing. He pays attention to all the little details.

The RCS reunion is an incredibly special set of moments, minutes, and memories. l cherish the weekend. My wife and I were able to spend time with those who chose to attend, I shared conversation with Lloyd Dagget and George Metro, class of '61, and had the opportunity at Mike Mead's home to simply sit and listen to live music and remember. Too many special memories to list here. Brent Bardon and Richard Troutman, the two of the original 24 who went on to ordination, Joe Ernshaw, Mike Finnerty, Mario Rodriguez, Bill Bernal, Ben Flores, Bob Bellis whose Dad was the caretaker. Etc, etc. Thank you Victor... ET AL (had to throw a litlle Latin in there...) for the Reunion.
